New amenities and health and wellbeing big positives for Christchurch

Whether it’s because of new amenities, affordable housing or quality of life, a new survey has found Christchurch residents are feeling better about their city.

Christchurch has scored highest of the main cities for health and wellbeing in New Zealand’s latest national Quality of Life survey, and recorded by far the biggest improvement in how the city is ranked by its residents.

It also scored top in housing affordability.

In other areas, including dangerous drivers and vandalism, Christchurch scored worst.

The survey, run during 2020 by councils in New Zealand’s main cities, questioned 7000 randomly selected people from a range of ages, ethnicities, and household types. It is held every two years.
